Nagoya: Pakistan’s squash players excelled on the second day of the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, with three entries advancing to the quarterfinals. Noor Zaman and Muhammad Ashab Irfan triumphed in the men's singles, while Muhammad Asim Khan and Mehwish Ali secured a spot in the mixed doubles quarterfinals.

According to Pakistan Squash Federation, Noor Zaman defeated Kuwait’s Ammar Altamimi with scores of 11-4, 11-9, 11-4 in a 26-minute match. Muhammad Ashab Irfan overcame Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Al Nasfan, winning 11-9, 11-3, 11-5 in a 36-minute encounter. Both players will compete in the quarterfinals tomorrow.

In the mixed doubles, the pair of Muhammad Asim Khan and Mehwish Ali emerged victorious against Japan’s Erisa Sano and Naoki Hayashi, winning 2-1 with scores of 8-11, 11-10, 11-4. However, the Pakistani duo of Nasir Iqbal and Sehrish Ali was defeated by Hong Kong's Ka Yi Lee and Ming Hong Tang with scores of 11-2, 11-6.

Tomorrow’s quarterfinals will feature Khan and Ali facing Hong Kong’s Yee Lam Toby Tse and Cheuk Nam Lai in mixed doubles, while Irfan and Zaman await their opponents in the men's singles quarterfinals.
