Pakistan Super League Celebrates Decade of Growth with Record-Breaking 10th Edition

LAHORE: The management of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), led by Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer, convened a workshop with key stakeholders at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. The meeting included representatives from franchises, the title sponsor, media rights partners, and commercial partners.

During the session, PSL management presented data reflecting the league’s growth over the past decade. A comparison of the ninth and tenth editions highlighted significant advancements in viewership and engagement.

The 10th edition, known as HBL PSL X, took place from April 11 to May 25, with Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi hosting 34 matches. The final, held at a packed Gaddafi Stadium, saw Lahore Qalandars defeat Quetta Gladiators, marking their third title win in four years.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the league’s role as a symbol of unity and resilience. He expressed gratitude to franchise owners, sponsors, players, broadcasters, and fans for their support. Naqvi highlighted the league’s commitment to evolving into a more competitive and globally engaging tournament.

Salman Naseer noted the league’s significant growth in digital engagement, with a 647 percent increase in live streaming. He acknowledged the support of long-standing partners and the league’s expanding fan base. The 10th edition recorded 3.4 billion live streaming views and a digital following of 22 million.

The PSL’s reach extended across urban and rural areas, with 53 percent of viewership from urban regions and 47 percent from rural areas. Female viewership accounted for 33 percent of total live streaming views.

The season set new records, including the highest number of sixes and wickets in a single edition. Lahore Qalandars achieved the highest successful chase in T20 history during the final. The league also launched a separate Urdu commentary feed for full games.

As the PSL marks its 10th anniversary, it continues to set benchmarks in the sporting landscape, uniting fans globally and promising exciting developments in the future.
