Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Sunni Tehreek has announced plans to file a reference in the Supreme Judicial Council against several judges, including Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, accusing them of deviating from the Constitution in their recent decision in the Mubarak Sani case. The party claims this decision conflicts with both Sharia and the constitutional mandates.
According to Pakistan Sunni Tehreek, the organization’s head, Muhammad Shadab Raza Naqshbandi, criticized the Supreme Court’s ruling, which he stated supported unconstitutional practices. Naqshbandi emphasized the necessity of actions under Article 6 of the Constitution against any judges found violating its principles, to deter future deviations.
Additionally, Naqshbandi linked local judicial controversies to broader international concerns, condemning the recent attack on Hamas’s political head, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran and labeling it an assault on the Islamic world’s honor. He called on Iran to respond decisively to Israel, which he held responsible for the attack.
The party has also expressed solidarity with the people of Balochistan, urging the government to address their economic and political grievances to eradicate the sense of deprivation among them.
On a related note, Pakistan Sunni Tehreek leaders led nationwide protests against the Supreme Court’s decisions, particularly criticizing permissions that they claim allow Qadianis to conduct blasphemous activities within Pakistan. This has sparked significant unrest among the organization’s followers, who vow to protect the laws surrounding the finality of Prophethood at all costs.
The issue continues to stir significant public and legal debate, reflecting the complex interplay between religious beliefs and constitutional law in Pakistan.
