Pakistan Sports Board Suspends Pakistan Weightlifting Federation Over Violations

Islamabad: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has suspended the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation (PWF), citing significant irregularities, corruption, and anti-doping code violations. The decision, targeting the federation led by Hafiz Imran Butt, follows findings from an investigation conducted by a PSB-appointed delegate under the Lahore High Court’s directive.

According to Pakistan Sports Board, the suspension was enacted during the 25th PSB meeting on July 6, 2022, and places an Interim Committee in charge of managing the federation’s operations. The PSB has further instructed all Provincial Sports Boards and relevant government departments to cease all correspondence, cooperation, or financial dealings with the suspended federation, including facility provision and sponsorship.

The official suspension notification is available on the Pakistan Sports Board’s website.
