Pakistan Pledges Expanded Trade and Investment in Afghanistan, Minister Asserts at International Meeting


Islamabad: Defence Minister Khwaja Muhammad Asif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to broadening trade, commerce, and investment initiatives in Afghanistan. His statement came during the third gathering of the Quadripartite Group on Afghanistan, which includes China, Iran, and Russia as members.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Asif emphasized the importance of continuous support for humanitarian efforts directed towards the 23.7 million impoverished individuals in Afghanistan. He highlighted the United Nations Secretary-General’s call for over three billion dollars in aid, urging Western countries to ensure full funding.



The Defence Minister further stressed the necessity of freeing Afghanistan’s frozen national assets, revitalizing its banking sector, and advancing connectivity projects. Asif articulated the ongoing need for collaborative efforts to promote peace and security within Afghanistan and to address regional threats stemming from the country.
