Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the criteria and process for awarding the first-ever HBL PSL Cricket Development Excellence Award, valued at USD 200,000. This notable award will assess the cricket development efforts of franchises from the HBL PSL 3 season through the HBL PSL 11 season, encompassing a period when at least six franchises participated in the league.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the process begins with franchises self-assessing their development work using a scoring model created by the HBL PSL. These assessments will be reviewed by a five-member committee consisting of independent experts and internal stakeholders, who will verify the scores based on supplied evidence. This committee's evaluation will comprise 80% of the final score, with the remaining 20% determined by fan votes on social media platforms.

The scoring model is divided into several categories: Player Pathway and Development (25%), Player Impact and Match Contribution (10%), High-Performance Infrastructure and Innovations (15%), Grassroots and Domestic Engagement (20%), Player Welfare and Education (10%), and Fan Voting via Social Media (20%). Fans will be provided with guidelines to assist their voting process.

Key performance indicators (KPIs) will measure various aspects of development, including the identification and progression of new talent, the impact of these players in matches, and the capacity and innovation of high-performance infrastructure. Additional KPIs will assess player welfare, educational support, grassroots engagement, and domestic cricket initiatives.
