Pakistan Army Dominates Early at National Inter-Department Karate Championship in Lahore

Lahore: The National Inter-Department Karate Championship 2024 kicked off today at Nishtar Park Sports Complex, featuring top athletes from various national departments, including the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Police, WAPDA, Railways, and the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The championship began with a strong start for the Pakistan Army, which secured six gold medals on the opening day.

According to Pakistan Karate Federation, the event was inaugurated by Syed Muhammad Abid Qadri, President of the Pakistan Olympic Association, who served as the Chief Guest. The first day saw the Army taking a significant lead, followed by WAPDA, which earned four silver medals. The HEC also made a notable appearance, securing two silver and three bronze medals.

The championship promises intense competition among some of the country’s top karate practitioners, representing their respective departments in a showcase of martial arts skill and discipline. The closing and prize distribution ceremony is scheduled for October 9, 2024, at 4:00 PM at the same venue, with Miss Muqadas Maan (CSP) set to honor the event as the chief guest.

This championship not only highlights the athletic prowess of the participants but also strengthens inter-departmental relationships through sports, fostering teamwork and camaraderie among different sectors of national service.
