Pakistan and South Africa Set for Pre-World Cup T20 Series in Multan

Multan: In preparation for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the UAE, the Pakistan and South Africa women’s cricket teams are scheduled to face off in a pivotal three-match T20I series at Multan Cricket Stadium. This series will serve as a final tune-up before the global tournament.

According to International Cricket Council, the series will kick off on September 16, with subsequent matches on September 18 and 20. Following the conclusion of the series, South Africa will depart for the UAE on September 21, with Pakistan following on September 23. In the World Cup, Pakistan is placed in Group A with cricket powerhouses Australia, India, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka, while South Africa will compete in Group B alongside Bangladesh, England, Scotland, and the West Indies.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that the squad selected for the World Cup will also participate in the bilateral series against South Africa. The team includes captain Fatima Sana and key players such as Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, and Muneeba Ali. Additionally, Najiha Alvi, a traveling reserve wicket-keeper, along with Rameen Shamim and Umm-e-Hani, non-traveling reserves, will also take part in the Multan series, offering them valuable international exposure ahead of the World Cup.

The forthcoming matches in Multan represent not only a critical preparatory step for both teams but also a significant opportunity for fans to see their teams in action on home soil before the main event in the UAE.
