Lahore, November 22, 2021 (PPI-OT):Punjab Assembly session started under chairmanship of Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Parvez Elahi here this (Monday) afternoon. Adjourning the Question Hour pertaining to Excise, Taxation and Drugs Elimination Department, the Speaker allowed Pakistan Muslim League’s MPA Khadeeja Umar to present her resolution about recitation of Holy Quran and Darood Sharif in educational institutions prior to the national anthem during assembly.
It has been stated in the resolution that in all government and private schools in the assembly prior to national anthem, recitation of Holy Quran and Darood Sharif and prayers should also be offered for safeguarding and progress of the motherland. The resolution was unanimously adopted.
Afterwards during the session, making a query from the Law Minister, the Speaker Punjab Assembly said that drugs are being sold openly in the schools, colleges and universities and no action is being taken, what measures the government is taking for elimination of drugs from the educational institutions. The Speaker further said that the federal and provincial governments should take action jointly for curbing the drugs in the educational institutions.
Ch Parvez Elahi said that the drugs problem is very important and it should be taken seriously and clear policy be formulated for its elimination. On this Law Minister Mohammad Basharat Raja assured the Speaker that a separate directorate is being created for elimination of drugs from the schools. Session was adjourned till tomorrow morning at 11:30 AM.
