Karachi: An online education platform, PreMed.PK, co-founded by Hasnain Mankani, is transforming medical education in Pakistan by providing accessible preparation resources for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) to students across the country. The initiative aims to level the playing field for aspiring medical students, especially those from underserved backgrounds, offering them an opportunity to pursue their dreams without the financial and logistical barriers typically associated with traditional preparatory academies.

According to Aga Khan University, where Hasnain Mankani studied, PreMed.PK has reached over 200,000 students since its inception. The platform was created in response to the challenges faced by students like Mankani, who recognized the disparity in access to quality preparation and guidance for medical entrance exams. The platform consolidates essential resources and offers them online, ensuring that students from remote areas and varying socio-economic backgrounds can compete on equal footing for medical school admissions.

Hasnain Mankani's efforts extend beyond PreMed.PK. While at Aga Khan University (AKU), he served as the Director of the Academics and Workshops Wing of the Student Research Forum, where he facilitated research opportunities for students lacking mentors or formal training. He also initiated an ambassador program to extend these resources and mentorship opportunities to students at other medical colleges. Additionally, Mankani has authored an MDCAT revision booklet and harnessed social media to provide free guidance to over five million people.

Now a graduate of AKU, Mankani is pursuing a Master of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University with a 90 percent scholarship. His work is aimed at improving healthcare access and preventive care, inspired by his early experiences with a local doctor in his neighborhood who selflessly served the community. Mankani's journey underscores the impact of accessible education and mentorship in shaping future healthcare leaders in Pakistan.
