National Assembly Attendance Report Reveals Key Participation Trends

Islamabad: During the 21st session of the National Assembly, which unfolded across seven sittings from November 5 to November 14, 2025, a detailed attendance report was released, shedding light on the participation patterns of assembly members. According to the report, 123 members, accounting for 38 percent of the total, were present for all sittings, while 11 members, representing three percent, were absent throughout the session.

The report, compiled by the Free and Fair Election Network, highlighted that the fifth sitting saw the highest attendance, with 297 members, or 91 percent of the current membership, in attendance. Conversely, the second sitting recorded the lowest attendance, with 188 members, or 57 percent, present.

The analysis revealed that 85 percent of male lawmakers and 88 percent of female lawmakers participated in more than half of the sittings. Notably, 100 percent of minority lawmakers were present for the majority of the session.

In a notable development, three treasury lawmakers and 27 opposition lawmakers were absent during the fifth sitting, when the 27th constitutional amendment was passed. Additionally, the report noted that among cabinet members, five federal ministers and four state ministers attended all the sittings.

The Prime Minister participated in two of the sittings during the session. The report also mentioned that the Leader of the Opposition has not been officially declared in the National Assembly.
