LAHORE: The Department of Basic and Applied Chemistry, in partnership with the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization, organized a training session titled Practical Machine Learning Tools for Scientific Research. The training aimed to enhance scientific research through the integration of machine learning tools.
The session featured Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Director ORIC and the Head of the Department of Basic and Applied Chemistry, alongside Dr. Ali Saeed, an Associate Professor from the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science. Dr. Farrukh offered an overview on structuring scientific data for machine learning applications, while Dr. Saeed provided practical training using Google Colab.
Faculty members from several departments participated in the session, which was designed to foster interdisciplinary learning. Participants expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting its alignment with the revised BS curriculum of the Higher Education Commission. The training is seen as a step toward promoting AI-driven innovation in scientific research, equipping faculty with the necessary tools to advance their academic work.
