LAHORE: The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) has partnered with Allied Bank to explore the potential of robotics and Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) in transforming banking experiences. This collaboration, conducted through LUMS' CHISEL Lab, aims to advance research and development in robotics-driven applications for the banking sector.
According to Lahore University of Management Sciences, the agreement was formalized by Mr. Muhammad Zaman, Group Head of Digital Transformation and Innovation at Allied Bank, and Dr. Suleman Shahid, Associate Professor and Director of CHISEL Lab at LUMS. A Pepper Robot has been deployed at CHISEL Lab to facilitate experimentation and co-development of robotics applications focused on customer interaction, service delivery, and assistive banking environments.
The initiative will be overseen by a Joint Innovation Steering Group, aiming to produce functional prototypes, insights from pilots, and potential joint publications. Additionally, the solutions developed will be evaluated in real-world settings, such as Allied Bank Digital Lounges, to assess their usability, scalability, and customer adoption. Dr. Suleman Shahid emphasized the collaboration's potential to translate research into impactful real-world applications and accelerate innovation in human-robot interaction. Mr. Muhammad Zaman highlighted Allied Bank's commitment to emerging technologies to enhance customer experiences.
