Kainat Imtiaz Announces Retirement from International Cricket After 13-Year Career

Lahore: Fast bowler Kainat Imtiaz has announced her retirement from international cricket, concluding a 13-year career during which she represented the Pakistan women's cricket team in 19 One-Day Internationals and 21 T20 Internationals. She recently transitioned to a role as a match referee in the PCB National Women's U19 T20 Tournament.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, Kainat was part of the Pakistan squad for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2017 and participated in four matches. Her international career began in October 2010 when she made her T20I debut against South Africa in Potchefstroom, becoming Pakistan women's T20I cap no.22. She earned her ODI cap no.64 in Fatullah, Bangladesh, against Ireland women.

Kainat was also a member of the Pakistan women's squads that secured gold medals at the Asian Games in 2010 and 2014, held in China and South Korea, respectively. Her last ODI appearance was against Australia at the Gabba in January 2023, and her final T20I was against Thailand in Sylhet in October 2022.

Beginning her cricket journey in February 2007 with the Karachi Schools U17 team in the PCB National Schools U17 Women's Championship, Kainat made her domestic List A debut in March 2008 and her T20 debut in July the same year.

Kainat's mother, Saleema Imtiaz, became Pakistan's first woman umpire on the ICC's International Development Panel in 2024, and she has officiated nine WODIs and 69 WT20Is to date.
