Jailed Kashmiri Leaders Praise PM Shahbaz Sharif’s UN Speech as Reflective of Their Aspirations


Srinagar: The leadership of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), currently detained in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has commended Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for his recent speech at the UN General Assembly, describing it as a genuine representation of the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.



According to Kashmir Media Service, messages from the imprisoned APHC Chairman Masarrat Alam Butt, along with senior Hurriyat leaders Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, and Molvi Bashir Irfani, conveyed their support for the sentiments expressed in the Prime Minister’s address. They highlighted Pakistan’s consistent advocacy for Kashmir on international platforms and its role in seeking to resolve the longstanding conflict.



The detained leaders emphasized the importance of Pakistan’s support, which they described as crucial for sustaining the Kashmiri struggle against Indian occupation. They expressed their appreciation for PM Shahbaz Sharif’s firm stance on Kashmir at the UN, which they believe resonates with the enduring struggle of the Kashmiri people for self-determination and freedom.



Furthermore, the APHC leaders called on the United Nations to address India’s intransigence on the Kashmir issue and to apply pressure to resolve the conflict in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.



Ghulam Muhammad Safi, the Convener of APHC-AJK, along with other senior leaders, also expressed gratitude to PM Sharif for addressing the issues facing Kashmiris and Palestinians. They praised his leadership for eloquently presenting the Kashmir issue on the global stage, reflecting the deep-seated desires of Kashmiris and Muslims worldwide for justice and resolution.



These leaders reiterated the need for the international community, particularly the United Nations, to intervene and ensure the implementation of its resolutions to facilitate a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute, thereby allowing its people to exercise their right to self-determination.
