Bahawalpur: Five students from the Department of Plant Pathology at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur have been awarded scholarships to pursue higher education at prestigious universities around the world. This accomplishment highlights the university’s commitment to maintaining high standards in teaching and research.
According to The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Pakistan, these scholarships reflect the global recognition of the university’s academic and research excellence in plant pathology. Prof. Dr. Naveed Aslam Malghani, Chairman of the department, attributes this success to the “tireless and round-the-clock efforts” of the faculty. The department has been focused on critical issues such as plant diseases, sustainable agriculture, and food security, conducting innovative research that has garnered international attention.
The scholarship recipients include Laraib Malik, who will join Anhui Agricultural University in China for a PhD program; Muneeb Anwer, selected for a PhD under the Federal University of Pelotas Brazil/USA Split Program; Riaz Muhammad, who will pursue his PhD under the Russian Scholarship Project; Muhammad Talha Ikram, awarded a PhD scholarship at Guizhou University in China; and Muhammad Mazhar, who will undertake an MS at Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development in Germany.
Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, the Vice-Chancellor, along with Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, and Prof. Dr. Naveed Aslam Malghani, have extended their congratulations to these scholars for their remarkable achievement.
