IoBM Partners with Huawei and New Horizon to Spearhead Digital Transformation in Higher Education

Karachi: The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) has taken a significant step towards digitalizing its educational environment by hosting an event with Huawei Technologies and New Horizon at the Movenpick Hotel on July 31, 2024. This collaboration aims to transform IoBM into a paperless institution, enhancing its Learning Management System (LMS), data security, and remote learning capabilities.

According to Institute of Business Management, the event was not only a showcase of the new IT infrastructure deployed at IoBM but also a demonstration of the institution’s leadership in embracing digital transformation in higher education. The initiative is set to improve day-to-day operations and strategic objectives within the institution, making it a model for technological adaptation in the academic sector.

The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Tariq Rafi, Chairman of Sindh HEC, praised the initiative, noting the rarity of such comprehensive IT undertakings in the academic field. He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts among universities to achieve significant results. “Even with technological advancements, human interaction remains essential,” he remarked, highlighting the balance between technology and traditional educational methods.

Mr. M. Bashir Janmohammad, Chairman of the IoBM Board, and Mr. Talib Karim, President of IoBM, both stressed the critical role of IT development in advancing Pakistan’s educational and technological sectors. They attributed the successful implementation of this digital infrastructure to the vision and proposal of Dr. Imran Batada, Chief Digital Officer and Director of CIT at IoBM, supported by the Board.

Dr. Batada emphasized that digital disruption is set to reshape the academic industry profoundly. He pointed out the necessity of integrating advanced technologies to enhance educational methodologies effectively. Mr. Qaiser Sarwar, COO of New Horizon, discussed the development of the state-of-the-art IT infrastructure, commending the collaborative effort and the support from Huawei Technologies.

The event also featured a panel discussion titled “Redefining Higher Education in a Digitally Disrupted World,” moderated by Dr. Batada. Panelists including Mr. Muhammad Zohaib Khan, Mr. Jibran Jamshad, Mr. Asif Jafri, and Mr. Azhar Nawaz, discussed the transformative power of digital technologies in education. They agreed that embracing digital innovation is crucial for modernizing educational institutions and preparing students for future challenges.

Mr. Shahzad Rasheed, CEO of Huawei Cloud, and Mr. Atif Khan, Commercial Sales Director for South EBG at Huawei, both highlighted the importance of digital technology in fostering educational growth and competitive advantage globally. They noted that the shift to digital is pivotal for democratizing access to quality education and equipping the youth with essential skills for the global economy.
