International Workshop on Companion Animal Pathology Concludes at UVAS

Lahore: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in Lahore, in collaboration with the Global Health Pathology Network (GHPN) and the Davis Thompson Foundation USA, concluded a three-day international workshop on the pathology of companion animals. The event was held at the City Campus and ended with a ceremony presided over by UVAS Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Younus, who distributed certificates to participants and shields to resource persons.

According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the workshop attracted a diverse group of participants, including renowned pathologists from the United States, professionals from diagnostic laboratories and the pharmaceutical industry, as well as researchers and faculty members from both public and private institutions in Pakistan. Professor Dr. Muhammad Younus commended the Department of Pathology, led by Professor Dr. Muhammad Yasin Tipu, for organizing the event. He highlighted the achievements of UVAS in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and mentioned ongoing research at UVAS Ravi Campus Pattoki to develop a vaccine for foot-and-mouth disease. He encouraged participants to share the knowledge gained from the workshop to enhance veterinary education and contribute to the country's economy.

Professor Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani noted that the workshop provided participants with in-depth knowledge on the latest pathology techniques and facilitated discussions on various diagnostic challenges in animal diseases. Professor Dr. Yasin Tipu expressed gratitude to the sponsors and participants who contributed to the workshop's success. Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad elaborated on the workshop's aspects, including participant engagement and the objectives of the GHPN activities.

The workshop aimed to enhance diagnostic skills through interactive learning and practical exposure to cytology, histopathology, necropsy techniques, and disease correlation in companion animals.
