International Islamic University Islamabad Female Campus Launches Sports Gala 2023

Islamabad, The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has inaugurated its Sports Gala 2023 at the Female Campus, marked by a vibrant flag march and a series of competitive events. The opening ceremony on Wednesday saw participation from both Pakistani and international students from over 30 countries, engaging in various sports and E-gaming competitions.

According to the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), the gala was inaugurated by the university’s Vice President of Academics, Prof. Dr. Abul Raheman. In attendance were Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Incharge of the Female Campus, Dr. Sadia Saleem, Students Advisor female, along with Deans, Directors-General, Sports Incharge Nadia Mukhtar, senior faculty members, and a large number of students. Organized by the Directorate of Students’ Affairs of the Female campus, the gala showcases the talents of thousands of female students from 11 faculties, featuring competitions in tug of war, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, basketball, cricket, football, indoor games, E-gaming, and athletics.

Dr. Abul Raheman, speaking at the event, commended the female students’ participation, emphasizing the importance of sports in higher education. He praised the Directorate of Students Affairs for their efforts and stressed the necessity of engaging youth in constructive activities for building a healthy society. He reiterated the university’s commitment to providing top-tier sports facilities and balancing academic, sports, and co-curricular activities for the holistic development of students.

Dr. Sumayya Chughtai highlighted the sports gala as a representation of cultural diversity and international presence at IIUI. She lauded the efforts of the Students Advisor Office and its Sports section in organizing the event. Additionally, Dr. Sadia Saleem, the Students Advisor, expressed gratitude to the administration for their support and mentioned that the event aligns with the vision of Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, providing a platform for students to exhibit their talents. She promised the continuation of such constructive activities in the future and briefed on the week-long schedule of the sports gala.
