India Secures Convincing Victory Over Pakistan in ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup

NEW DELHI: India continued their impressive run in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 with a commanding 88-run victory over Pakistan, marking their 12th consecutive win against their rivals. The triumph also secured India’s second consecutive win in the tournament, while Pakistan faced its second consecutive defeat.

India, after being put in to bat first by Pakistan, posted a total of 247 runs. In response, Pakistan was bowled out for 159, thanks to a disciplined bowling performance by India. Kranti Gaud led the attack with a remarkable 3/20, dismantling Pakistan’s top order. She was supported by Deepti Sharma, who claimed 3/45, and Sneh Rana, who took two important wickets.

Despite a resilient half-century from Sidra Amin, Pakistan struggled to build partnerships. Amin’s 81, the highest score by a Pakistan batter against India in Women’s ODIs, was not enough as she was eventually caught out by Harmanpreet Kaur off Sneh Rana’s bowling.

Pakistan’s chase faltered early as they lost three wickets in the powerplay, with Muneeba Ali, Sadaf Shams, and Aliya Riaz dismissed cheaply. Muneeba Ali’s run-out by a direct hit from Deepti Sharma set the tone for India’s aggressive fielding display.

Earlier, Pakistan’s bowling had restricted India to 247. Diana Baig stood out with figures of 4/69, achieving her 100th wicket for Pakistan in international cricket. Sadia Iqbal and Fatima Sana also contributed with two wickets each, while Rameen Shamim and Nashra Sandhu chipped in with crucial breakthroughs.

Harleen Deol top-scored for India with 46, while Richa Ghosh’s quick-fire 35* off 20 balls pushed India close to the 250-mark. The innings saw significant contributions from the middle order, despite none reaching a half-century.

Nashra Sandhu’s dismissal of Jemimah Rodrigues was a notable moment in the match, as it made her the joint highest wicket-taker for Pakistan in Women’s World Cup history, alongside Sana Mir.

India’s victory strengthens their position in the tournament, showcasing their depth in both batting and bowling departments.
