IIUI’s Department of English Unveils Inksight, A Digital Literary Magazine

Islamabad: The Department of English at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has launched its first digital literary magazine, Inksight, marking a notable achievement for the department. The initiative aims to offer a structured platform for student expression, fostering critical engagement and literary exploration.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, President of IIUI, attended the launch as Guest of Honour. He commended the editorial and design teams for their efforts and expressed support for the magazine’s future endeavors. His engagement with presenters highlighted the university’s commitment to student-led academic projects.

Dr. Fauzia Janjua, Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Literature, recognized the collaborative efforts of faculty members and the student editorial board. She noted the importance of such initiatives in enhancing academic culture and fostering creative confidence among students.

Dr. Saiyma Aslam, Chairperson of the Department of English, emphasized the faculty and student’s role in the magazine’s conception and execution. She outlined recent academic and co-curricular activities aimed at revitalizing the department, including the restructuring of the English Literary Society.

Dr. Amal Sayyid introduced Inksight, sharing its vision and mission. She praised the dedication of the student editorial and design teams and acknowledged the IT Department’s technical support, specifically highlighting the contributions of Mr. Junaid Azhar and Mr. Usman Ali.

Dr. Akhtar Aziz spoke about the magazine’s title, stressing the continuing importance of creativity and the written word in the digital age. Student editors Saba Khaliq and Huzaifa Mehmood detailed the selection and editing process, which includes diverse genres such as poetry, fiction, essays, reviews, and visual art.

Dr. Farrukh Nadeem commented on the high quality of submissions, and the ceremony concluded with live readings by contributors. Dr. Hafiz Abid Masood described Inksight as meeting international literary standards. The first issue is available online through the IIUI website.
