Islamabad: In a ceremony held at International Islamic University (IIUI), Zain-ul Aabideen, a standout student from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was awarded the FAST Cables Excellence Award for achieving the highest cumulative grade point average in his department.
According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the event took place in the council hall and was chaired by the Acting President of IIUI, Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, and Mr. Ghulam Yaseen Qadri, Regional Business Manager of FAST Cables. In recognition of his academic excellence, Zain-ul Aabideen received a cash prize of 1 lac rupees and a job offer from FAST Cables.
The ceremony also marked the strengthening of ties between IIUI and FAST Cables, highlighted by the signing of Memorandums of Understanding that aim to support high-achieving students and provide internships to IIUI students at FAST Cables. Additionally, FAST Cables has committed 2 million rupees to assist needy students at the university.
Dr. Muhammad Sarwar emphasized the importance of industry-academia linkages and the need for curriculum updates to meet societal demands. He expressed optimism about future joint ventures and collaborations with FAST Cables, aimed at enhancing educational standards and societal contributions by the university’s graduates.
The university also maintains a transparent scholarship mechanism to support needy students, a move that has garnered appreciation from students and parents alike.
The award ceremony was well-attended, with representatives from both institutions, including Mr. Afrasiyab Khan, Senior Manager of Business Development at FAST Cables, and several faculty members from IIUI, demonstrating the broad support for the program.
