IIUI Faculty of Education Concludes Workshop to Enhance Research Standards

Islamabad: The Faculty of Education at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has concluded a comprehensive workshop aimed at equipping postdoctoral research fellows with advanced skills to enhance the quality and policy impact of their research. Held from January 26 to 30, the workshop focused on methodological rigor, literature synthesis, and the development of research instruments.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the event, inaugurated by Dr. Azhar Mahmood, Incharge Programs, Faculty of Education, underscored the fellowship’s commitment to high-quality research and adherence to both national and international academic standards. The workshop offered an intensive series of sessions where fellows presented detailed literature reviews and research instruments for their ongoing projects, receiving critical feedback from peers and faculty alike.

Fellows engaged in structured presentations, hands-on workshops, and one-on-one mentoring, allowing them to refine research questions and enhance the reliability of research instruments. The program included discussions on ethical practices, publication strategies, and collaboration with policymakers and education stakeholders. “The purpose of this workshop is to move postdoctoral research from sound theory to real-world impact,” stated Dr. Azhar Mahmood, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based research in shaping education policy in Pakistan and beyond.

Organizers noted significant advancements across participants’ projects, highlighting improvements in measurement protocols and the connection between research findings and policy recommendations. The workshop prioritized replicable methods, transparent reporting, and publishing strategies for high-quality journals. Additionally, fellows received support in grant proposal preparation and network building for collaborative research.

The Faculty of Education plans to sustain the fellowship’s capacity-building initiatives through ongoing mentoring, peer review cycles, and future workshops. These activities are part of IIUI’s broader mission to elevate research standards in education and equip scholars with the tools necessary to tackle pressing educational challenges with evidence-based, policy-oriented research.
