Islamabad: The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) cricket team faced DL Cricket Club in an exhilarating match on Saturday, showcasing the talents of newly selected players following recent trials. The match, organized by the Sports Section of the Directorate of Student Affairs (Male) at IIUI, saw DL Cricket Club clinch victory in a last-over finish.
The match began with DL Cricket Club winning the toss and opting to field. IIUI, batting first, put up a competitive score of 215 runs in their allotted 30 overs. The standout performance came from Hamza Khalid, who scored a century, contributing significantly to the team’s total.
Chasing the target, DL Cricket Club’s Matiullah played a key role with a 95-run innings, steering his team towards a thrilling last-over victory. Despite the loss, IIUI’s captain Azam Khan made a notable impact with the ball, taking four wickets.
The post-match ceremony was graced by Dr. H. Ghufran Ahmad, Student Advisor (Male), who presented the Man of the Match award and the winner’s cup to the victorious DL Cricket Club. Alongside him, Sir Naseer Ahmed, Coach of the IIUI Cricket Team, praised the players for their sportsmanship and efforts.
