IIUI Advances Academia-Industry Collaboration Through Project to Product Initiative

Islamabad: The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has progressed to the second phase of its "Project to Product" initiative, aiming to strengthen connections between academia and industry through applied research and innovation. This phase included the selection of interns and the approval of industry-funded final-year projects (FYPs).

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the recent Cohort-II selections were conducted at the IIUI Business Incubation Center. The event was organized by the Industrial Linkages and Commercialization Working Group of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization, under the leadership of Dr. Bashir Ahmad. The session was attended by CEO of Shaoor, Engr. Jawad Janjua.

During the event, 6th-semester students from the Faculty of Management Sciences and the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology presented their FYP proposals to an industry evaluation panel led by Engr. Jawad Janjua. The panel evaluated the projects on criteria such as feasibility, innovation, and industrial relevance, ultimately selecting several proposals for internships and industry funding. This opportunity allows students to enhance their research in practical environments.

Faculty members Dr. Rukhsana Tariq, Dr. Islam Zada, and Dr. Zahid Khan were among those who appreciated the partnership model between IIUI and industry stakeholders. The session wrapped up with the selection of promising projects, strategic plans for Cohort-III, and a group photograph. The "Project to Product" initiative was underlined as a significant move toward enhancing academia-industry collaboration, converting research into viable products, and fostering entrepreneurial skills among IIUI students. This aligns with the University's broader mission of academic excellence and innovation-focused education.
