ICC Approves Najiha Alvi as Replacement for Injured Diana Baig in Pakistan T20 Squad

Dubai: The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 has officially approved Najiha Alvi as the replacement player for Diana Baig in the Pakistan women’s cricket team. This decision comes following Baig’s calf injury, which she sustained during a recent match.

According to International Cricket Council, Najiha, who has a track record of 12 ODIs and eight T20Is, was nominated after Diana Baig was sidelined due to her injury incurred on October 3 during Pakistan’s clash against Sri Lanka in Sharjah. The rules of the tournament stipulate that such replacements require the formal approval of the Event Technical Committee before a player can join the roster.

The Committee responsible for this approval includes notable figures such as Wasim Khan, ICC General Manager – Cricket, who chairs the committee; Snehal Pradhan, ICC Manager – Women’s Cricket; Salman Hanif, Emirates Cricket Board Tournament Director; and Katey Martin, an independent representative.
