Karachi: The Hamid Ismail Foundation is organizing a significant football tournament, the Challenge Cup, at the Kukri Ground in Karachi. The event has attracted 32 teams from across the city, offering an opportunity for local footballers to showcase their skills and dedication since the tournament’s commencement on January 27.
According to a statement by Hamid Ismail Foundation, the Challenge Cup employs an Eliminator Format, adding a competitive edge to the matches. The tournament will culminate in a final on February 14, where the winning team will be awarded a cash prize of one hundred thousand Pakistani rupees, while the runner-up will receive fifty thousand rupees.
Hamid Ismail, President of the Hamid Ismail Foundation, emphasized the broader purpose of the Challenge Cup. He stated that the tournament serves as more than just a sporting event, aiming to unite communities, inspire youth, and celebrate the sportsmanship culture within Lyari and other parts of Karachi. Ismail expressed his enthusiasm for providing this platform to local players, highlighting the role of sports in fostering unity.
