First Lady Visits Cardiology Institute, Lauds Chinese Support

Rawalpindi: First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari visited the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology and National Institute of Heart Diseases (AFIC-NIHD) on Thursday, where she praised Chinese contributions to the health sector and was briefed on advanced medical procedures being introduced.

According to a statement by Pakistan Peoples Party, the First Lady was informed by a Chinese cardiology expert team, led by Professor Dr. Pan Xiang Bin, about new ultrasound-guided procedures for treating congenital and structural heart diseases. These procedures, supported by Chinese expertise, are being performed for the first time at the AFIC-NIHD.

Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, and Commandant AFIC-NIHD Major General Naseer Ahmad Samore were present during the visit.

The Chinese Ambassador announced plans to extend similar medical services to Balochistan and offer training opportunities for Pakistani doctors. He emphasized China’s commitment to expanding collaboration in Pakistan’s health sector.

During her visit, the First Lady expressed gratitude to the Chinese government and commended AFIC-NIHD’s management for delivering advanced heart disease treatments. She interacted with patients, presenting them with flowers, and received a commemorative shield from the AFIC-NIHD Commandant.
