Kotli, The University of Kotli Azad Jammu and Kashmir has awarded its first Ph.D. in Biotechnology to Dr. Sobia Sharif, marking a historic milestone for the institution. Dr. Sharif successfully defended her thesis on thermophilic bacteria from Hort Spring Tatapani, a study that involved isolating enzymes of industrial importance.
According to University of Kotli Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Sharif’s achievement is a testament to the university’s commitment to advancing scientific research. Her work, which was recognized for its uniqueness and value, was commended by the external examiner Dr. Shahid Mahmood Baig (Sitara e Imtiaz, Hilal e Imtiaz). The Vice Chancellor, alongside Dr. Sharif’s supervisor Dr. Asad Hussain Shah and the Department of Biotechnology, celebrated this academic success.
