Islamabad: In a significant diplomatic event at Aiwan-e-Sadr, envoys from Zimbabwe, Tajikistan, Rwanda, Argentina, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Botswana presented their diplomatic credentials to President Asif Ali Zardari. This ceremony marked an important step in strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation with these countries across various sectors.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party announcement issued on 15 July 2024, the envoys, including the Ambassador-designate of Zimbabwe, Mr. Titus Mehliswa Jonathan Abu-Basutu; Ambassador-designate of Tajikistan, Mr. Sharifzoda Yusuf Toir; High Commissioner-designate of Rwanda, Ms. Harerimana Fatou; Ambassador-designate of Argentina, Mr. Sebastian Sayus; Ambassador-designate of Myanmar, Mr. Wunna Han; Ambassador-designate of Cambodia, Mr. Sok Chea; and Ambassador-designate of Botswana to Pakistan, Dr. Batlang Comma Serema, also engaged in individual meetings with the President following the credential ceremony.
During these discussions, President Zardari emphasized Pakistan’s rich opportunities for foreign investment, particularly in agriculture, livestock, IT, energy, and mining sectors. He urged the new envoys to explore these avenues to benefit their nations and foster economic growth. Furthermore, President Zardari expressed a desire to expand cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchanges, stressing the importance of economic ties and advocating for increased interaction among business communities to boost trade relations.
President Zardari also extended his congratulations to the envoys on their new roles and expressed hope that they would contribute effectively to enhancing the relationships between their countries and Pakistan. The event also included a ceremonial guard of honour by the Pakistan Armed Forces, highlighting the formal reception and the importance of these diplomatic ties.
