LONDON: England has revealed its 16-player squad for the upcoming tri-series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, set to take place in Lahore and Rawalpindi from October 18 to 31. The series will conclude with a final between the top two teams. Harry Brook retains his leadership role following a successful ODI series against Sri Lanka.
According to International Cricket Council, Adil Rashid and Sam Curran have made notable returns to the squad after recovering from injuries. Rashid was sidelined due to a hand injury, while Curran was recovering from a groin issue. The squad will miss the experience of Jos Buttler, who suffered a hamstring injury. Jordan Cox is expected to fill in behind the stumps, having performed well in the recent series against Sri Lanka.
Jofra Archer has been rested, making room for Mason Crane, who is set to make his ODI debut. Crane, who played a Test match during the 2018 Ashes, is joined by newcomers James Coles and Henry Crocombe. Both young players were part of the white-ball squads for the Sri Lanka series.
England will face Pakistan in their tri-series opener on October 20 in Rawalpindi. The series is seen as a crucial preparation phase leading up to the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in 2027.
