London: The England Men’s cricket team has announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming three-match Test series against Pakistan in October. The squad includes two uncapped players, Durham seamer Brydon Carse and Essex batter Jordan Cox, alongside seasoned cricketers like captain Ben Stokes and spinner Jack Leach.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the squad was selected by England’s selection panel and includes a mix of experienced and new players. Ben Stokes, who is recovering from a hamstring tear, will lead the team, which also sees the return of leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed and Jack Leach to the Test format. Leach’s inclusion comes after an absence from Test cricket since January 2024, while Ahmed aims to build on his debut performance from the last tour in Pakistan in December 2022.
Among the returning players are Rehan Ahmed, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jack Leach, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Ben Stokes, all of whom were part of the team that secured a 3-0 series victory over Pakistan in 2022. Zak Crawley makes a comeback after recovering from a finger injury sustained in July.
The selection also highlights the inclusion of Josh Hull, who is coming off his Test debut at the Kia Oval this week, marking his first senior tour with the England team.
The venues for the Test series are yet to be announced, with further details expected from the Pakistan Cricket Board shortly.
