Dr. Gohar Ejaz Reaffirms Support for LUMS National Outreach Programme

Lahore, Dr. Gohar Ejaz, the CEO of Lake City Holdings and a noted philanthropist, has renewed his commitment to supporting the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) National Outreach Programme (NOP). A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed at a ceremony on May 18, 2024, at the Lake City Golf and Country Club.

According to Lahore University of Management Sciences, the MoU was signed by Mr. Javaid Iqbal, Chairman of Lake City Holdings, and Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor of LUMS. This formal agreement reaffirms the longstanding partnership between Dr. Ejaz and LUMS, focusing on expanding educational opportunities for underprivileged students across Pakistan. The event also included a cheque-handing-over ceremony, symbolizing Dr. Ejaz’s ongoing financial support to the NOP.

The ceremony was attended by LUMS senior leadership and notable guests including Mr. Sardar Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera, former Cabinet Secretary of Pakistan, who emphasized the critical role of such scholarships in providing quality education to those who might otherwise be unable to afford it. Dr. Cheema expressed his gratitude towards Dr. Ejaz and Lake City for their continued support, which he described as vital to the human capital transformation necessary for Pakistan’s progress.

Dr. Ejaz, in his remarks, highlighted the significance of education as the cornerstone of national development and praised the achievements of LUMS students and alumni in contributing towards a better future for Pakistan. He also commended Dr. Cheema’s recent appointment as Vice Chancellor and his vision for the university.
