Karachi: In a recent statement, the Chairperson of the Global Aafia Movement, Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui, called on the United States and the Pakistani government to address the case of her sister, Aafia Siddiqui, with the same compassion reportedly shown by President Joe Biden in pardoning his son, Hunter Biden. She emphasized the need for dedicated efforts beyond financial expenditures to secure Aafia’s release.
According to Aafia Movement, Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui expressed her contentment over the pardon granted to Hunter Biden, viewing it as a gesture of paternal love or political understanding by President Biden. In her statement, she urged for similar sympathy towards her sister, Aafia, whom she claims has been wrongfully imprisoned and subjected to severe torture. Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui’s appeal highlighted the need for Aafia to return to her homeland to ensure justice.
Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui also acknowledged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s briefing and financial support but insisted that the issue transcends monetary considerations. She reiterated the government’s duty to advocate passionately for Aafia’s release, portraying her as a national figure whose freedom should be a priority for the country.
