DG PSB Discusses Strategic Initiatives to Boost Badminton in Pakistan

Islamabad: In a meeting focused on elevating the profile of badminton in Pakistan, Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), Yasir Pirzada, engaged with representatives from the Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) to outline practical steps aimed at improving the country’s international rankings in the sport.

The discussion, led by PBF President Wajid Ali Chaudhry, centered around the organization of junior and senior tournaments, ensuring equal opportunities for players, and streamlining the process for obtaining No Objection Certificates (NOCs) required for international competition participation.

Yasir Pirzada emphasized the potential of badminton in Pakistan, noting the importance of transparent trials and the provision of opportunities for talented players at both national and international levels. He reiterated the PSB’s commitment to promoting the sport, with an aim for it to gain recognition beyond Asia and on a global stage.

A key highlight of the meeting was the introduction of an “E-Portal” by PSB, designed to facilitate online access to various services, including the NOC process. This move is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency and transparency of the NOC issuance process for players competing internationally.

The meeting was also attended by PBF Secretary General Raja Azhar and Treasurer Parvez Habib Butt. The collaboration between PSB and PBF is seen as a strategic step towards fostering the development of badminton in the country.
