Los Angeles: Cricket will make its long-awaited return to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028, as confirmed by the International Olympic Committee. The T20 competitions for both men and women are scheduled from July 12 to July 29, 2028.
This marks the sport’s second Olympic appearance, following its debut in Paris 1900, where Great Britain won gold. Six teams per gender will vie for medals, with the women’s medal match on July 20 and the men’s on July 29.
The matches will be held at the Fairgrounds in Pomona, located approximately 50 kilometers from Los Angeles. The competition format includes double-headers, with games starting at 9:00 AM and 6:30 PM local time.
With 90 athlete quotas designated for each tournament, nations will field 15-member squads. The qualification process for LA28 remains undecided but will be a topic at the ICC’s Annual Conference in Singapore.
Cricket’s inclusion in the Olympics reflects its growing global presence and offers a platform to showcase the sport on a prestigious international stage.
