Commissioner Rawalpindi’s Admission Highlights Allegations of Election Rigging

Rawalpindi, Islamabad leaders of the Pakistan Sunni Tehreek, including Provincial President North Punjab Muhammad Zahid Habib Qadri, Provincial President Central Punjab Sardar Muhammad Tahir Dogar, and Provincial President South Punjab Dr. Imran Mustafa Khokhar, have demanded the formation of an independent investigation commission following the confessional statement of Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaquat Ali Chatta regarding election rigging. They assert that the Election Commission of Pakistan has compromised its constitutional and moral integrity, urging immediate action to rectify the alleged undermining of democracy.

According to Pakistan Sunni Tehreek, the leaders collectively emphasized the urgent need for accountability and justice for those accused of manipulating the public mandate. They called for the restoration of the Constitution of Pakistan to its original state and stressed the collective responsibility of the nation and judiciary in this regard. The statement highlighted the failure of the Election Commission and the caretaker government in safeguarding the electoral process and underscored the importance of uniting all political parties to ensure democratic stability and progress.

The leaders argued that addressing the current political, economic, and social crises requires a concerted effort from all parties to prioritize the country’s and people’s interests over personal and party gains. They advocated for a consensus-based political strategy to advance the democratic process, stating that the future development and prosperity of the country depend on giving the people their rightful voice and justice. The appeal for an independent inquiry into the allegations of election rigging reflects a significant concern for maintaining the integrity of the electoral system and the democratic fabric of the nation.
