The Oval and Lord’s to host ICC World Test Championship finals in 2023, 2025 

Dubai, September 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):The International Cricket Council (ICC) today confirmed that the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 will be played at The Oval in London with the 2025 edition to take place at Lord’s.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said he was pleased to confirm two iconic venues for the next two cycles.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said: “We are delighted to be hosting next year’s ICC World Test Championship Final at The Oval which has such a rich legacy and an amazing atmosphere, which is ideal for such an important fixture on the calendar.

“Following that we will then take the 2025 Final to Lord’s which will provide a fitting backdrop to the ultimate Test.”

“Last year’s final between New Zealand and India in Southampton was an engrossing encounter and I am sure fans the world over would be looking forward to the next WTC final at The Oval. On behalf of the ICC, I would like to thank the England and Wales Cricket Board, Surrey County Cricket Club and Marylebone Cricket Club for their support.”

Steve Elworthy, CEO of Surrey County Cricket Club, said: “It’s a real honour that The Oval has been selected to host the final of the World Test Championship. To have the two best teams in the world playing here in south London will be a fantastic occasion.

“Next year promises to be a superb summer of cricket at The Oval and this match will be a brilliant part of it.”

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Chief Executive and Secretary Guy Lavender said: “We are delighted that Lord’s will be hosting the ICC World Test Championship Final in 2025. It is fantastic news that the ICC has opted to host the next two finals in London, with both grounds providing fitting venues for the culmination of the championship.”

The dates for both the 2023 and 2025 ICC World Test Championship Finals will be confirmed in due course.

England had been identified as the hosts for the next two WTC Finals during the ICC Annual General Meeting in Birmingham in July.

Yadav, Pandya move up in MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings

Dubai, September 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):India batter Suryakumar Yadav and all-rounder Hardik Pandya have made huge gains in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings after fine efforts in the opening T20I of their three-match series against Australia in Mohali on Tuesday.

Yadav has moved up one slot to third position after scoring 46 off 25 balls while Pandya’s knock of 71 in 30 balls has lifted him 22 places to 65th position. Pandya has also overtaken Australia’s Glenn Maxwell to take fifth position among all-rounders. Axar Patel has moved up the list for bowlers, his haul of three for 17 taking him from 57th to 33rd position.

For Australia, Player of the Match Cameron Green has entered the top 100 after smashing a 30-ball 61 while fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who grabbed two wickets in the match, retains No. 1 position in the bowlers’ list.

Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan has consolidated his position at the top of the batters’ list after scoring a 46-ball 68 in the first of seven T20Is against Australia at home. Rizwan has gained 15 rating points to reach a career-best 825 rating points, 33 more than second placed Aiden Markram of South Africa.

Fast Bowler Haris Rauf (up four places to 31st), spinners Mohammad Nawaz (up three places to 31st) and Usman Qadir (up 16 places to 102nd) are the other Pakistan players to move up the list.

For England, left-arm seam bowler Sam Curran has advanced 19 places to 52nd position while batters. Alex Hales (126th) and Harry Brook (147th) have also gained after contributing to their win.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup launches Official Resale Ticket Platform 

Dubai, September 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 has launched its official Resale Ticket Platform, providing a safe and secure way for fans to buy and sell tickets at face value. The platform is the only authorised resale website for T20 World Cup tickets and provides a simple, user-friendly system for people to sell tickets they are no longer able to use.

Fans can access the platform from today via the official ticketing site t20worldcup.com, and are reminded to only purchase tickets through the official ticketing site as tickets purchased through unauthorised channels cannot be guaranteed. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 is a declared major event throughout various states of Australia. The unauthorised sale of tickets carries heavy penalties in some states.

As announced last week, over 500,000 tickets have already been snapped up and fans are encouraged to buy now to ensure they get the seats they want. The official Resale Ticket Platform will provide the best opportunity for fans to secure face-value tickets for fixtures that are currently sold out.

Users should be aware that posting a ticket for resale does not guarantee a sale; the seller will only receive payment if the ticket is purchased.

70th BoG meeting in Karachi on Saturday

Gujranwala and Mardan to play Pakistan Junior League opener 

Lahore, September 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Pakistan Cricket Board today unveiled the schedule of the inaugural Pakistan Junior League edition that will be staged at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Gujranwala Giants and Mardan Warriors will create history when they compete in the opening match of the tournament – the first of its kind – on Thursday, 6 October under the GSL lights.

Bahawalpur Royals will play Hyderabad Hunters in their tournament opener on 7 October, this match will also be staged under the lights.

A total of 19 matches will be played in the 15-day tournament which includes 15 round matches followed by four playoffs including the 21 October final (Friday). Each of the six sides will play five matches in the single-league format (one against each of the five teams).

In order to provide the local cricket fans an extended opportunity of seeing the next generation of cricket stars play under the guidance of team mentors Javed Miandad (league mentor), Sir Vivian Richards (Gwadar Sharks), Shahid Afridi (Mardan Warriors), Shoaib Malik (Gujranwala Giants), Imran Tahir (Bahawalpur Royals), Daren Sammy (Hyderabad Hunters) and Colin Munro (Rawalpindi Royals), a total of four double-headers will be staged in the inaugural edition – all on weekends.

The first double-header day (Saturday, 8 October) will see Rawalpindi Raiders and Gwadar Sharks play their opening match of the tournament. Gujranwala Giants will play Bahawalpur Royals in the second match of the day.

Other than the day-night fixtures, 15 matches will be staged under lights. The day-night matches start at 3:30pm while the night matches (single-headers) start at 8pm. The tournament final will also start at 8pm.

The local players in the meantime continue to prepare for the PJL at the ongoing Engro Cricket Coaching Project under the PCB Pathway Programme at the National High Performance Centre, Lahore.

The foreign players will join their respective sides at the beginning of the tournament support period – 28 September. The foreign mentors will join their teams in the first week of October. All six sides will start practice with their squads and coaching staff during the event support period.

Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Amir Jan chairs high-level meeting in connection with upcoming Pakistan-England three T20 matches 

Lahore, September 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Amir Jan chaired a high-level meeting in connection with upcoming Pakistan-England three T20 matches at National Hockey Stadium on Thursday.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan, Chief Security Officer SBP Col (retd) Shabbir, PCB officials Usman Wahla and Brig Jahangir, Additional Commissioner Lahore, DG Protocol, DC Lahore, AC Model Town Sonia Sadaf, SP Hasan, Punjab Safe City Authority official M Asim and other officials were also present on the occasion.

The officials of district administration, Lahore police, traffic police, PHA, Protocol, Wasa, LWMC, MCL, Rescue-1122, health and security agencies also participated in the meeting.

Prior to meeting, Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Amir Jan also had a detailed discussion with Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi at his office.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pak-England 3 T20 matches will be played at Gaddafi Stadium from September 28 to October 2, 2022.

A detailed briefing was given to Commissioner Lahore on all arrangements such as security measures, cleanliness, rescue, traffic and parking etc.

Addressing the meeting, Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Amir Jan directed the officers concerned to facilitate the cricket fans and simplify the ticket checking process outside the stadium. He instructed the security agencies to check the installation of lights on the routes and around the stadium. “More than 8,000 police personnel will ensure the security of both teams, routes and stadium,” he added.

Commissioner Lahore Amir Jan further said that additional security cameras will be installed to make the live monitoring system more effective. “There will be no compromise on security. Special routes should be made operational from several parts of the city to accommodate maximum number of cricket spectators”.

Commissioner Lahore Amir Jan said that the branding of the city should be excellent. “Security of parking sites should be up to the mark and there will be no compromise on cleanliness in and around Gaddafi Stadium”.

Commissioner Lahore Amir Jan directed the officers concerned to keep all Wasa machinery available and operational during T20 matches. “There should be no dark area around the stadium and on the routes and cleanliness should be excellent in all enclosures”.

He said that there should be superb traffic plan and it should be publicized at all levels for the convenience of citizens and cricket fans.

While giving the briefing, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq as many as 148 security cameras of Sports Board Punjab are fully active in Nishtar Park Sports Complex. “The best facilities will be provided to cricket fans in Nishtar Park Sports Complex. Sports Board will fully cooperate with all departments for the smooth organization of T20 matches”.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq said a modern control room has already in operation at National Hockey Stadium. “Sports Board Punjab will play its effective role for the success of Pakistan-England T20 cricket series,” he added.
