Karachi: The Aga Khan University has announced the appointment of Dr. Kulsoom Ghias, a distinguished cancer biologist and academic leader, as the new Dean of its Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Ghias is noted for her efforts to integrate sciences and humanities, and she is expected to lead the faculty into a new era with a focus on interdisciplinary learning.

According to Aga Khan University, Dr. Ghias has a strong belief in the power of a liberal arts education to equip graduates for the challenges of a rapidly evolving world. Her educational background includes a liberal arts foundation at the University of Virginia, a PhD and postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University's Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center, and an Advanced Diploma in Health Professions Education from Aga Khan University.

Throughout her career, Dr. Ghias has spearheaded major academic initiatives, enhanced research capabilities, and fostered collaborative partnerships, all while promoting innovation in teaching.
