Burj Khalifa Celebrates Ticket Launch for Women’s T20 World Cup with Spectacular Show

Dubai: As anticipation builds for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the launch of ticket sales with prices starting at just five dirhams, and free entry for those under 18. The announcement was marked by a dazzling laser show on the Burj Khalifa, underscoring the event’s significance as the UAE prepares to host the prestigious tournament.

According to International Cricket Council, the decision to set low ticket prices is part of a strategy to ensure the tournament leaves a lasting legacy and promotes cricket across diverse communities in the UAE. ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice highlighted the diversity of the UAE as a crucial factor in making the tournament feel like a ‘home World Cup’ for all participating teams, ensuring robust support from passionate fans.

The tournament, starting on October 3, will feature ten teams divided into two groups, competing in 23 matches over 18 days. Group A includes powerhouses such as Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, while Group B hosts Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, and Scotland. Matches will be held across Dubai and Sharjah, with the final showdown scheduled for October 20 in Dubai.

Zaid Abbas, a board member of the Emirates Cricket Board, expressed excitement about the UAE hosting its first global women’s cricket event, praising the ECB’s extensive experience in organizing top-tier cricket events.
