KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has paid tribute to the officers, sailors, and martyrs of the Pakistan Navy on Navy Day, observed today nationwide.
In a statement released by the Media Cell Bilawal House, Bhutto Zardari highlighted Navy Day as a reminder of the courage and sacrifices of naval personnel. He noted their role in defending the nation’s maritime frontiers, particularly during the 1965 war, when the Pakistan Navy demonstrated unparalleled bravery, including the execution of Operation Somnath.
Bhutto Zardari emphasized the vision of Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for a robust and modern Navy. He credited Zulfikar Ali Bhutto with initiating Pakistan’s nuclear program to bolster self-reliant defense and highlighted Benazir Bhutto’s efforts to modernize the naval force with advanced technology.
The PPP Chairman acknowledged the Pakistan Navy’s recent demonstrations of professionalism, particularly in defending the country during periods of heightened tension with India. He recognized the Navy’s role in maintaining maritime sovereignty, securing trade routes, and ensuring regional peace.
In his concluding remarks, Bhutto Zardari urged the nation to continue supporting and strengthening the armed forces.
