Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Meets U.S. Senators to Address Regional Tensions

Washington: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party and head of Pakistan’s diplomatic mission, engaged in a significant meeting with U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Cory Booker at the Hart Senate Office Building.

The discussions centered on the urgent human rights situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir, with Bhutto Zardari voicing concern over the escalating issues. He commended the Senators’ dedication to human rights and highlighted the deteriorating circumstances in the region.

The talks also touched on India’s increasing militarism and human rights violations. Bhutto Zardari criticized the Indian government’s actions, accusing it of using war narratives for political purposes. He asserted that Pakistan’s approach has effectively countered these narratives on the international stage.

In a bid to foster peace, Bhutto Zardari expressed Pakistan’s openness to collaborating with India on a conflict-reduction mechanism to ensure long-term stability in South Asia.

Addressing terrorism, Bhutto Zardari emphasized Pakistan’s status as one of the countries most impacted by terrorism. He rejected India’s allegations of cross-border terrorism, describing them as unfounded.

Senators Van Hollen and Booker acknowledged Pakistan’s peace efforts and pledged their support for regional stability. The meeting also explored opportunities for enhanced trade and socio-economic ties between Pakistan and the United States.
