Quetta: Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, emphasized the critical need to combat terrorism and accelerate development projects to enhance security and stability in Balochistan. Addressing a high-level meeting at the CM Secretariat, he urged the provincial government to fast-track compensation and rebuilding efforts for the victims of the 2022 floods.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, The meeting, attended by Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, provincial ministers, and other key officials, served as a platform for Zardari to outline his priorities for the province, including defeating the narrative of terrorism and implementing grassroots political processes to restore peace. He highlighted the importance of the first youth policy in Balochistan, advocating for its full implementation to unlock more opportunities for local youth.
Zardari was briefed on various flagship programs such as the Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Program, People’s Air Ambulance, and the establishment of medical institutes like NICVD and Gambat Institute of Liver Transplant in Quetta. The discussions also covered significant increases in the developmental budgets for education and health, aimed at substantially improving the public services in the province.
Furthermore, The meeting addressed infrastructure projects like the conversion of agricultural tube wells to solar energy, The Kachhi Canal project, and interest-free loans for unemployed graduates. Zardari directed the immediate completion of health projects and called for emergency measures to enhance infrastructure across Balochistan, stressing the urgency of advancing the housing projects initiated for flood affectees.
