Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Announces Asif Ali Zardari as PPP’s Presidential Candidate in Thatta

Thatta, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, declared President Asif Ali Zardari as the party’s candidate for the upcoming presidential elections, citing his capability to unify the federation and democracy amidst national turmoil. During a massive public gathering in Thatta, Sindh, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari articulated his party’s stance on the recent elections’ rigging allegations and their commitment to addressing these concerns through legal avenues without inciting societal division.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, while addressing supporters, highlighted the historical context of electoral disputes dating back to the 1977 elections won by Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, drawing parallels with the current situation. He emphasized the PPP’s decision not to join the cabinet at the Center, focusing instead on ensuring the federal government tackles the populace’s issues. Rejecting a power-sharing offer that would have made him prime minister for the last two years of the assembly’s term, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari voiced his preference to serve as the people’s representative in the National Assembly.

The PPP chairman criticized the recent elections, noting the general discontent among political parties regarding the electoral process and outcomes, including disputes over Form-45 results. He reiterated his party’s resolve to seek justice through legal channels and, if necessary, mobilize public support to safeguard democracy and the federation.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also addressed the nation’s pressing challenges, such as political and economic crises, societal divisions, and escalating inflation and unemployment. He called for a collective focus on the people’s welfare over personal political gains, criticizing older politicians for self-centered politics detrimental to national unity and progress.

Concluding his speech, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appealed to all political forces and parties to prioritize the nation’s well-being, cautioning against divisive politics that threaten the federation’s stability. He affirmed the PPP’s readiness to lead efforts to protect democracy and the federation, drawing on the party’s historical legacy of overcoming adversities through public support and resistance.
