Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Advocates for Justice in Historic Presidential Reference Hearing

Islamabad, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), attended a significant hearing at the Supreme Court today regarding the presidential reference on the judicial murder of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Addressing the media at the Supreme Court building, Chairman Bilawal expressed hope that the justice which Benazir Bhutto, the daughter of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, could not attain, would now be granted to his grandson.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari spoke of the historical context of his grandfather’s death, which occurred during a dictatorial regime in Pakistan. He connected the evolution of the country’s judiciary and parliament to the outcome of this case, emphasizing the importance of addressing past wrongs to ensure they are not repeated. The Chairman also appreciated the intellectual depth of the judges presiding over the case and expressed satisfaction with their comprehensive understanding of the legal, historical, and factual aspects.

During his talk, Chairman Bilawal highlighted that beyond the judicial reference, other legal avenues are being considered, including the possibility of filing an FIR against the conspirators involved in Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s case. He stressed the need to correct historical records and uphold the integrity of Pakistan’s institutions through the legal process.

Responding to journalists’ inquiries, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari touched upon the political landscape in Pakistan, noting the public’s desire for multiparty collaboration and compromise in addressing the nation’s challenges. He underscored PPP’s readiness to support the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in government formation based on mutually agreed terms, advocating for expedience in the process to prevent further instability and uncertainty in Pakistan’s democracy and economy.
