Australia to Face South Africa in T20 Semi-final Without Captain Alyssa Healy

Dubai: Australia will confront South Africa in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup semi-final without their captain Alyssa Healy, who has been ruled out due to a foot injury. Despite arriving at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium without crutches, Healy has not recovered sufficiently to participate in Thursday’s crucial match.

According to International Cricket Council, Tahlia McGrath, serving as stand-in skipper, confirmed Healy’s unavailability at the toss. Cricket Australia issued an official statement simultaneously, indicating Healy’s progress but acknowledging her continued absence from play. Healy had previously sustained an acute injury to her right foot during a group-stage game against Pakistan and missed the subsequent match against India.

McGrath and vice-captain Ellyse Perry led Australia to a seamless entry into the semi-finals, maintaining an unbeaten record through the group stages. Despite her improved condition, Healy’s participation in the upcoming final remains uncertain and will depend on her recovery and Australia’s performance in the semi-final against South Africa.
