Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, in collaboration with Bodhi Works, is set to present the theater play “The White Plague” from August 21 to 25. The event will showcase a stellar cast, including Fawad Khan, Saad Zameer, and Kashif Hussain, under the direction of award-winning filmmaker Meher Jaffri. The play, a satirical portrayal of global pandemics and warmongering, aims to resonate deeply with contemporary audiences.
According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, a press conference was held at Haseena Moin Hall to discuss the upcoming performance. Mohammad Ahmed Shah, President of the Arts Council, emphasized the institution’s dedication to promoting arts and culture both locally and globally. “The Arts Council has always been at the forefront of nurturing artistic talent and providing them with platforms to excel,” Shah stated.
Meher Jaffri, director of the play, highlighted its thematic relevance, noting its focus on the absurdity of warmongering and the impact of pandemics, drawing parallels with current global issues. The play, inspired by Karel Capek’s 1937 drama, will also pay homage to the late Zia Mohyeddin, reflecting his vision and dedication to the arts.
The cast expressed their excitement about the production. Fawad Khan, known for his versatile acting, shared his enthusiasm for the role and the unique challenges it presents. “Working on such a significant play with a team of passionate individuals is truly inspiring,” he said. Kashif Hussain, playing the role of the Doctor, invited audiences to experience the blend of humor and drama that the play promises.
