Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi announced that its elections for the 2025-2026 term will be held on December 22, 2024, as disclosed during a press conference at Haseena Moin Hall. Commissioner Karachi and Chief Election Commissioner Syed Hassan Ali Naqvi, along with DC South Altaf Sario and President of the Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah, outlined the election process and key dates.
According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the elections, held biennially, will determine the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, Treasurer, and 12 Governing Body members. The voter list will be publicly available on December 9, with nomination forms accessible from December 10. Objections to the voter list must be filed by December 11, with the final list posted on December 12. Nomination papers are due by December 12, with scrutiny scheduled for December 13 and withdrawals accepted until December 14. The final list of candidates will be posted on the notice board by December 14, with the campaign concluding on December 20. Voting is set from 12 PM to 8 PM on December 22, accommodating voters present within the premises at closing time.
President Muhammad Ahmed Shah highlighted that the election date was decided in coordination with Karachi’s Commissioner, emphasizing a tradition of pre-announcing election dates. He assured that the Arts Council office would remain operational around the clock to address any procedural issues, expressing gratitude to the media for their support.
