Altaf Shakoor Criticizes IMF Influence on Pakistan’s Sovereignty at Independence Day Speech

Karachi: During a recent speech commemorating Independence Day, Altaf Shakoor, a leader of the Pasban Democratic Party, argued that Pakistan would only experience true freedom once it has escaped the influence of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to Pasban Democratic Party, Shakoor criticized the current economic governance under IMF’s guidance, asserting that the country’s elites benefit at the expense of the general populace. He stressed that real independence involves more than ceremonial activities; it requires adherence to the principles and ideology of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Shakoor emphasized that following these ideals is essential for shaping the nation’s destiny and allowing citizens to fully enjoy the fruits of freedom, which he claimed are currently obstructed by the elite.

The speech also highlighted the significance of August 14th as a day to remember the sacrifices made by the forefathers of the nation for freedom. Shakoor called for a collective effort to reflect on these values and strive towards genuine sovereignty free from external economic pressures.
