AI Symposium at TechNova 2025 Sparks Vision for Future Growth in Pakistan

Karachi: Industry leaders, academicians, and government figures gathered at TechNova 2025, hosted by the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), to discuss strategies for AI-driven growth. The event, organized by the College of Computer Science and Information Systems (CCSIS), focused on artificial intelligence’s role in the technological evolution of Pakistan, with the Closing Ceremony attended by Ms. Sabina Mohsin, VP FHE and Chief Advisor at IoBM.

The symposium featured insights from C-level executives, including Mr. Jibran Jamshad of Microsoft Pakistan and Brig. Musharraf Khan of TELECOM Group. Jamshad emphasized the transition to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, highlighting generative AI as a key component. He urged individuals to enhance their AI credentials through online learning. Khan discussed AI’s transformative potential in education, citing benefits such as virtual tutoring and enhanced accessibility.

Panelists included notable figures like Prof. Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro of IoBM and Mr. Adnan Zaidi of Proxima.pk, who explored AI’s impact across academia and industry. Discussions underscored AI’s ability to streamline tasks and the importance of ethical considerations in its application. While AI tools facilitate faster task completion, speakers noted that human creativity and independent learning remain irreplaceable.

A highlight of TechNova 2025 was the Inter-University Competitions, featuring participants from over 25 universities. These contests showcased technical skills and entrepreneurship in various categories, including Final Year Projects and Speed Programming.

TechNova 2025 succeeded in promoting collaboration between academia, industry, and government, advancing AI-led growth in Pakistan. The event’s success was attributed to the collective efforts of CCSIS – IoBM, led by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abbas, and supported by student societies IEEE and Digicon.
